GAME JAM GAMES
American Ostrich Saloon was made for the 2015 AACC Game Jam. Most of the game was completed in a weeks time, although the game jam went on for 3 weeks. The game is simple rock-paper-scissors gameplay with an added twist; players select each move before the round begins and they can never use the same move twice during one round. This title was one of the more polished and on schedule games from the game jam, although it failed to deliver substantial gameplay or any depth.
This video details how the animation system was designed.
Darkest Goth UNLEASHED is a game made for the 2014 AACC Game Jam over the course of 2 weeks. The gameplay is a mix between dynasty warriors and zombie infection games where the player is able to infect other factions with a variety of actions and attacks. An infected individual is then converted into the player's faction and at that point the player is able to command them and take over territories similar to dynasty warriors.
This game was a bit ambitious for the length of time we had and many problems came up durring development. One such problem was that the code broke midway through the jam and a solution hadn't been found in time leaving many of the game's mechanics no longer present in the final game.
The scope of the game was simply too large for a game jam of this length, a mistake I've yet to repeat.
